how do I send 20000 emails once only? - Internet Marketing ...

Hi Folks.

I'm a film director about to launch my third movie.

As you can imagine, the internet is a huge part of marketing the third film and in addition to doing many things like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn-based campaigns one of the many ways we're using it is through sending out a press release by e-mail.

We have a mailing list of around 8,000 journalists which will probably grow to 20,000 by the time the emails are sent in a month or so.

Initially, I was fairly relaxed about this aspect - as a gmail user I just checked the sending limits and found them to be 2,000 emails per day, so simply signed up for 10 gmail addresses accordingly...

I know that a few hundred recipients may mark my press release as Spam, but seeing as I am sending them all in one burst of a few hours, I figured they would all arrive before the email was filtered by gmail's system.

Then it hit me - what if Gmail also marks emails as spam if they are identical? 20,000 identical emails sent around the same time, from the same IP, albeit with different addresses - could that trigger something that would suppress them too?

These e-mail addresses I am sending the press releases to are good ones and I already have a track record with journalists and I don't want the release not to arrive in key inboxes just because some arbitrary spam filter thinks I am selling pills...

I have looked into mass emailing services, but there's a problem with them too : the reputable ones need all your recipients to have "opted in" which isn't really practical for a once off press release and the ones that don't need opting-in aren't reputable. It's kind of a Catch 22. I would end up just as worried about my messages not arriving if I use such a service.

I wonder if the best option is to upgrade my google apps gmail to Premium, because it may allow better limits.

Any thoughts?

They key to this is that I am only doing it once, in a few hours, and just need the 20,000 messages to arrive...

Thanks!
